Neck Pain

Med1Care Therapy Partner’s team of physical therapists specializes in the effective treatment of neck pain (physical therapy for neck). Neck pain is a common issue, often stemming from the neck’s inherent flexibility and its role in supporting the weight of the head. Individuals dealing with neck pain frequently encounter symptoms such as muscle tightness, limitations in head movement, headaches, and muscle spasms.

Causes of Neck Pain Causes

Neck pain is frequently triggered by factors such as improper posture or prolonged periods of maintaining the head in a fixed position, such as during computer work, gardening, or driving. Osteoarthritis also plays a significant role in contributing to neck pain.

Numerous factors can lead to neck pain, ranging from issues within the joint itself, the presence of bone spurs, nerve compression, muscle strain, injuries, to underlying conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, meningitis, or cancer.

Typical sources of neck pain include:

  • Muscle strain arising from extended periods of engaging in solitary tasks, like binge-watching on a small screen
  • Joint problems stemming from deteriorated cartilage that cushions the vertebrae in the neck
  • Injuries, such as whiplash resulting from auto collisions, which strain the soft tissues in the neck
  • Nerve compression caused by bone spurs or herniated discs

While instances of neck pain rarely indicate severe underlying issues, it’s advisable to seek medical attention if the pain is severe, persists for multiple days, or coincides with additional symptoms like headaches, numbness, muscle weakness in the arms or hands, or shooting pain that radiates from the neck to the shoulder or down the arm.

Communication

Effective communication between the employee, employer, and healthcare team is an essential component in managing work-related injuries successfully. Med1Care takes this seriously and works to customize communication based on employer preferences as well as communicating key information about the case including but not limited to cancels and no shows, progress notes prior to follow up visits, changes in status, discharge planning, and current work-related functional abilities.

Complexity Assessment

A multiple system evaluation is done to know if an employee has basic factors that may increase their risk of chronicity/disability. Medical professionals use a consolidative proactive patient-centric approach to target mutable risk factors that can include poor sleep hygiene, poor pain management, to reduce their damaging effect.
